Front Support
You will now go back to the front loops that you skipped while starting the back support.

Row 13-19: ch1, sc in next 30sc; turn. (30sc)
Row 20: ch1, sc in next 30sc; cut tail and weave in ends.

Now you will sew the front support to the back. I sewed rows 13-20 of front to rows 9-16 of back.

Shoulder Straps (Make 2)
Ch 51.
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each 49ch across; turn. (50sc)
Row 2-3: ch1, sc in next 50sc; turn.
Attach the contrasting color and use for rest of strap.
Row 4: ch1, sc in next 50sc.
Now you will connect the strap to one side of the back support where the 4 front loops were skipped.
I used single crochets to sew on, picking up 4 stitches on the end of the strap.

After sewing on the strap to back support, you will work 50sc on the starting chain side of the strap.
Now you will sew the 2nd of the strap to the waist band on the opposite side of the carrier to make the straps cross each other. I used single crochets here as well to sew to the band. You can place the strap about 2" from the end of the waist band, or count the stitches. I attatched them by counting over 10sts from the end of the waist band and single crocheting into the 11th-14th sc. To end the strap, slip stitch into the first sc of the contrast color. Cut tail and weave in ends.

Now that all the pieces are made, I decided to add a border with the contrasting color over the whole carrier. If you start off at the bottom of a leg hole on the front support, you can work the bottom border over the whole thing in one try. Work around the side of the front support, down the side of the back support, all around the waist band (over the straps as well) and then back up the back support and down the last side of the front support.

To border the top of the carrier, I picked up a single crochet in the corner where the front and back support meet. I started across the top of the front support and then went around the top of the back support. To add a little extra detail, I crocheted shells across the top. Or you could just stick with sc around. To make the shell, I just skipped a little space (about the height of a double crochet) and put 5dc into the picked up stitch. Skip the same amount of space and slip stitch into the edge. Repeat around.

I wanted to add a little more to this carrier, so I made a simple bow for decoration.
Bow
Ch32. Form a ring by making a slip stitch in the first ch.
Row 1: ch1, 32 hdc into each ch; join with slip stitch into first hdc.
Row 2-6: ch1, 32hdc around; join with slip stitch into first hdc.
Leave a really long tail to wrap around the bow. I took the original tail at the chain to scrunch the tube together for the bow effect. Weave in that end. Then with the long tail, wrap around the middle until you feel like it looks complete :) Tie a knot at the back so it doesn't unravel, then sew the bow onto the carrier.

And there you have it! A crochet baby doll carrier :)
